Bowls career

Palm took part in the Lawn Bowls at the 1950 British Empire Games. He competed in the first World Bowls Championship in Kyeemagh, New South Wales, Australia in 1966 {{cite book|last=Ampol Petroleum Ltd|title=First World Bowls Championship Pre ISBN|year=1966|publisher=Public Relations Dept, Ampol Petroleum Ltd, Sydney, Australia}} and won a gold medal in the pairs with Geoff Kelly and a silver in the fours.{{cite web|url=http://www.burnsidebowlingclub.com/worldbowls2008/275.html|title=World Bowls Champions|publisher=Burnside Bowling Club}} He also won a gold medal in the team event (Leonard Trophy).
