Bertholdia trigona, or Grote's bertholdia, is a species of moth in the family Erebidae. The species was first described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1879.{{cite web |last=Savela |first=Markku |url=https://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/bio/life/insecta/lepidoptera/ditrysia/noctuoidea/arctiidae/arctiinae/bertholdia/#trigona |title=Bertholdia trigona (Grote, 1879) |website=Lepidoptera and Some Other Life Forms |accessdate=September 10, 2019}} It is prevalent in the southwestern United States.
In studies performed at Wake Forest University, these moths were shown to have developed the ability to disrupt the echolocation of bats. This insect is one of several moths known to jam its predator's echolocation and has the highest recorded click rate of any moth species, a feature hypothesized to increase the effectiveness of jamming.{{ cite news | author = Joyce, Christopher | title = Moths Outwit Bats By Jamming Sonar | date = July 17, 2009 | url = https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=106693909&ft=1&f=1001 | work=Morning Edition | publisher = National Public Radio}}{{Cite journal |last=Corcoran |first=Aaron J. |last2=Conner |first2=William E. |date=2012-12-15 |title=Sonar jamming in the field: effectiveness and behavior of a unique prey defense |url=https://doi.org/10.1242/jeb.076943 |journal=Journal of Experimental Biology |volume=215 |issue=24 |pages=4278–4287 |doi=10.1242/jeb.076943 |issn=0022-0949|doi-access=free }}{{Cite journal |last=Corcoran |first=Aaron |date=2015 |title=Negligible energetic cost of sonar jamming in a bat–moth interaction |url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/272397536_Negligible_energetic_cost_of_sonar_jamming_in_a_bat-moth_interaction |journal=Canadian Journal of Zoology |volume=93 |pages=331–335 |via=ResearchGate}}
