History
The company began as Cordarounds in 2005, designing corduroy pants with wales aligned horizontally instead of vertically.{{Cite news|last=Krantz|first=Michael|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/13/fashion/sideways-now-its-a-corduroy.html|title=Sideways: Now It's a Corduroy|date=2005-02-13|work=The New York Times|access-date=2020-03-05|language=en-US|issn=0362-4331}} After years of expanding its product offerings — these included Bike-To-Work Commuter Pants and Black Sheep Sweaters, made from the wool of actual black sheep — the company was renamed Betabrand in 2010.{{Cite magazine|last=Leckart|first=Steven|url=https://www.wired.com/2009/06/pr-cordarounds-bikepants/|title=Review: Cordarounds Bike-to-Work Pants|date=2009-06-26|magazine=Wired|access-date=2020-03-05|issn=1059-1028}}{{Cite news|last=Wallace|first=Amy|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/31/business/31proto.html|title=Whimsy (and Clothes) for Sale|date=2010-10-30|work=The New York Times|access-date=2020-03-05|language=en-US|issn=0362-4331}}{{Cite web|url=https://archives.sfweekly.com/sanfrancisco/chris-lindland-uses-memes-to-sell-pants/Content?oid=2177102|title=Chris Lindland uses memes to sell pants|last=Smith|first=Matt|website=SF Weekly|language=en|access-date=2020-03-05}}
