Early life and education

Singh got his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Master's in Applied mechanics from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad India in 1990 & 1992. Existing passion pertaining to Aeronautical Engineering, six years later in 1998, he joined Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at IIT Kanpur, received in 2001, later obtained his Post Doctorate Fellowship from Wright State University in 2003.{{cite web |url=http://www.wright.edu/sites/default/files/page/attachements/2002apr.pdf |title=Bhrigu Nath Singh - Post Doctorate Fellowship |publisher=Wright State University |accessdate=14 July 2015 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150721084259/http://www.wright.edu/sites/default/files/page/attachements/2002apr.pdf |archive-date=21 July 2015 |url-status=dead |df=dmy-all }}

Career

Prior to joining IIT Kharagpur as an assistant professor in 2004, Singh was a faculty member of MNNIT Allahabad. He has addressed several problems in aerospace structures with particular focus on geometric and material nonlinearity and uncertainty. Singh has over 130 research papers published and has given numerous national and international talks. He has supervised over 21 Ph.D.{{cite news |title=Total Ph.ds and M.Tech |url=https://iitram.ac.in/director_general |work=IITRAM Director General Profile |date=22 July 2023 |language=en}} and 61 MTech students. He has handled several defense projects for the Government of India. He has organized three ICTACEM, an international conference in which more than 250 delegates from India and abroad attend.{{cite web |url=http://www.cep.iitkgp.ac.in/?pid=RIC1EL16&mpos=r |title=International Conferences 2007, 2010, 2014|publisher=ICTACEM, Continuing Education Programme |archivedate=16 July 2015 |url-status=live |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150716215459/http://www.cep.iitkgp.ac.in/?pid=RIC1EL16&mpos=r |accessdate=3 September 2016}}

Singh has developed several mathematical models. He first time introduced a direct iterative-based probabilistic procedure for handling highly nonlinear problems, which are still challenging tasks in the research community. He has put forth his knowledge and ideas in some of the highly-rated journals. He has the distinction of getting his paper listed as the most cited paper since 2008 and also of a leading researcher in the field of uncertainty quantification.{{cite journal|last1=Ballarini|first1=Roberto |title=Cited Journals of Engineering Mechanics |journal= Journal of Engineering Mechanics|date=December 2009 |volume=127 |issue=9 |pages=873–879 |doi=10.1061/(ASCE)0733-9399(2001)127:9(873) }}
