The Bilsam Ultra Cruiser is a family of Polish microlight aircraft designed and produced by Bilsam Aviation of Poznań, introduced in the 2000s. The aircraft is supplied as a complete ready-to-fly-aircraft, as a kit and in the form of plans for amateur construction.Bertrand, Noel; Rene Coulon; et al: World Directory of Leisure Aviation 2003-04, page 130. Pagefast Ltd, Lancaster UK, 2003. ISSN 1368-485X

The manufacturer's website is non-functional and has been so since about 2008, so it is not clear if the company is still in business.{{cite web|url = https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://bilsamaviation.com/ |title=Bilsam Aviation |website=Internet Archive Wayback Machine |access-date = 2 June 2015 |date = 23 April 2015}}{{cbignore}}

Design and development

The Ultra Cruiser was designed to comply with the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale microlight category, including the category's maximum gross weight of {{convert|450|kg|lb|0|abbr=on}} and the US FAR 103 Ultralight Vehicles rules, including the category's maximum empty weight of {{convert|115|kg|lb|0|abbr=on}}.

The Ultra Cruiser I features a cantilever high-wing, a single-seat enclosed cockpit under a bubble canopy, fixed tricycle landing gear and a single engine in pusher configuration.

The aircraft is made from composite material. Its {{convert|8|m|ft|1|abbr=on}} span wing has a wing area of {{convert|8|m2|sqft|abbr=on}}. The standard engines used are the {{convert|28|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} Hirth F-33 two-stroke or the Bilsam TNA 650 {{convert|55|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} Suzuki automotive conversion powerplant.

The aircraft has a typical empty weight of {{convert|115|kg|lb|abbr=on}} and a gross weight of {{convert|250|kg|lb|abbr=on}}, giving a useful load of {{convert|135|kg|lb|abbr=on}}. With full fuel of {{convert|19|L}} the payload for pilot and baggage is {{convert|121|kg|lb|abbr=on}}.
