BioSimGrid was a project to make data sets from computer simulations in the field of modelling biological systems, particularly biomolecular structures, more accessible to researchers. The project began in 2004 and halted by 2009.

In 2004 designers presented the concept of the project as a "protein data bank extended in time".{{cite journal|last1=Tai|first1=Kaihsu|last2=Murdock|first2=Stuart|last3=Wu|first3=Bing|last4=Ng|first4=Muan Hong|last5=Johnston|first5=Steven|last6=Fangohr|first6=Hans|last7=Cox|first7=Simon J.|last8=Jeffreys|first8=Paul|last9=Essex|first9=Jonathan W.|last10=P. A review in 2006 described how BioSimGrid was a model project for making data from research more open.{{cite journal|last1=Ng|first1=Muan Hong|last2=Johnston|first2=Steven|last3=Wu|first3=Bing|last4=Murdock|first4=Stuart E.|last5=Tai|first5=Kaihsu|last6=Fangohr|first6=Hans|last7=Cox|first7=Simon J.|last8=Essex|first8=Jonathan W.|last9=Sansom|first9=Mark S.P.|last10=Jeffreys|first10=Paul|title=BioSimGrid: Grid-enabled biomolecular simulation data storage and analysis|journal=Future Generation Computer Systems|date=May 2006|volume=22|issue=6|pages=657–664|doi=10.1016/j.future.2005.10.005|url=https://eprints.soton.ac.uk/65004/1/Ng_06pp.pdf}}

BioSimGrid contributors accepted a grant from the National Institutes of Health in 2007.{{cite journal|last1=Murdock|first1=Stuart|title=Extending Biosimgrid for Biomol Simulation|url=http://grantome.com/grant/NIH/P41-RR008605-14-7756|journal=Grantome|language=en|date=2007}}
