The group's first single, "If You Feel My Love" quickly became very popular in Romania. Their second great hit was "Dear Mama". The clip was internationally released in the beginning of March, as a present for the women and mothers all around the world. The first album of the group was released in December 2008.{{cite news|url=http://www.telegrafonline.ro/1226700000/articol/70321/mihai_traistariu_si_8222blaxy_girls8221_in_concert_la_constanta.html|title=Michael Trăistariu and "Blaxy Girls" in concert in Constanta|last=Toader |first=Elena|date=15 November 2008|work=Telegraf|language=Romanian|accessdate=24 September 2009}} The album included a bonus track "If You Feel My Love (Chaow Mix)", a remixed version of the lead single which features a sample of a classic Beijing opera about Chen Shimei and Qin Xianglian. This version of the song became a famous Internet meme in 2020 after it was paired with a scene from an episode of Tom and Jerry, where Tom sits on a spinning phonograph looking like a caricature of a Chinese person.

They appeared in the semi-finals of the 2008 Golden Stag Festival{{cite web|url=http://www.antena3.ro/stiri/showbiz/manelistul-costi-ionita-responsabil-pentru-succesul-trupei-de-pop-rock-blaxy-girls_54815.html |title=Maneliste Costi Ionita, responsible for the success of pop-rock band Blaxy Girls |date=3 October 2009 |publisher=Antena3 |language=Romanian |accessdate=24 September 2009 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090708051740/http://antena3.ro/stiri/showbiz/manelistul-costi-ionita-responsabil-pentru-succesul-trupei-de-pop-rock-blaxy-girls_54815.html |archivedate=July 8, 2009 }} and were among the finalists for the 2009 Romanian Eurovision Song Contest, with the song "Dear Mama"{{cite web|url=http://www.telegrafonline.ro/1233180000/articol/76330/8222zero8221_8222blaxy_girls8221_si_dalma_printre_finalistii_eurovisionului_romanesc.html|title="Zero", "Blaxy Girls" and Dalma, including Romanian Eurovision finalists|date=29 January 2009|work=Telegraf|language=Romanian|accessdate=24 September 2009}} finishing in a tie for second place.{{cite web|url=http://www.esctoday.com/news/read/13118|title=Romania has decided for Eurovision!|last=Floras|first=Stella |date=31 January 2009|publisher=esctoday.com|accessdate=24 September 2009}}
