History

The first Methodist church in Blayney, then known as King's Plains, was a temporary church erected in 1843. It was under the charge of the minister at Bathurst until 1859, when the circuit was divided. The temporary church was replaced after nineteen years and is no longer extant.{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article155471017 |title=BLAYNEY METHODISM 1843 CENTENARY 1943 |newspaper=The Methodist |volume=52 |issue=35 |location=New South Wales, Australia |date=28 August 1943 |accessdate=20 June 2018 |page=1 |via=National Library of Australia}}{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article155471017 |title=BLAYNEY METHODISM 1843 CENTENARY 1943 |newspaper=The Methodist |volume=52 |issue=35 |location=New South Wales, Australia |date=28 August 1943 |accessdate=20 June 2018 |page=1 |via=National Library of Australia}}

The second Methodist church, now the church hall and Sunday school, was a brick church that opened in 1862 for £300. It was extended in 1912 and 1928.{{cite web | url=http://www.blayney.nsw.gov.au/ArticleDocuments/238/BlayneyHeritage_weblr.pdf.aspx | title=Historic Blayney Heritage Walk | publisher=Blayney Shire Council | accessdate=20 June 2018}}{{cite news | url=https://www.blayneychronicle.com.au/story/1085808/lodge-carringtonia-celebrates-100-years/ | title=Lodge Carringtonia celebrates 100 years | work=Blayney Chronicle | date=16 December 2010 | accessdate=20 June 2018}}

The current church was built from 1885-86 at a cost of approximately £1,144 by Bathurst contractor James Atkins. The church, designed in the Victorian Carpenter Gothic style by architect James Hine, opened on 5 September 1886. It was renovated {{circa|1940}}, and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2011.

The former parsonage was built in 1884.

It became the Uniting Church in 1977 following the merger of the Methodist, Congregational and Presbyterian churches.{{cite news | url=https://www.blayneychronicle.com.au/story/1087142/church-to-celebrate-renovations-anniversary/ | title=Church to celebrate renovations, anniversary | work=Blayney Chronicle | date=23 November 2011 | accessdate=20 June 2018}}
