Bolbomyia is a genus of snipe flies, and the sole genus in the family Bolbomyiidae; until 2010, it was placed in the family Rhagionidae.{{Cite journal|last=Kerr|first=Peter H.|date=2010|title=Phylogeny and classification of Rhagionidae, with implications for Tabanomorpha (Diptera: Brachycera).|journal=Zootaxa|volume=2592|pages=1–133|doi=|issn=|url=https://www.mapress.com/zt/article/view/zootaxa.2592.1.1|language=en}} They are a small 2 to 3.5 mm, brown or black in color, with lightly infuscate (darkened) wings.
