Bondebyen (Pesants' Town in Danish) is a historical neighbourhood of Kongens Lyngby. It is considered the best-preserved country town of the Copenhagen area,{{Cite news| author = Poul Erik Skriver| author-link = Poul Erik Skriver| title = Bondebyen i storbyen| work = Ingeniøren| url = http://ing.dk/artikel/1537-bondebyen-i-storbyen| archive-url = https://archive.today/20130213013810/http://ing.dk/artikel/1537-bondebyen-i-storbyen| url-status = dead| archive-date = 13 February 2013| date = 22 June 1984}} albeit it is now in the middle of the heavily urbanized Lyngby-Taarbæk municipality.

Among the notable buildings is the house of Støvlet-Cathrine, as well as Lindegaarden (Linden Farm), built between 1841–1883.{{Cite web| title = Lyngby-Taarbæk Kommune: Bondebyen| url = http://www.ltk.dk/composite(468).htm| date = 26 April 2007| url-status = dead| archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20120329235625/http://www.ltk.dk/composite%28468%29.htm| archivedate = 29 March 2012}} Høstvej nr. 4, Vilhelminelyst, was Gyrithe Lemche's ancestral home. The known jurist Janus Kolderup-Rosenvinge lived in Høstvej nr. 6, and the merchant J. Fr. Tutein lived in Asylgade nr. 7.

The association Bondebylauget has worked since 1970 to preserve, improve and restore the area;{{Cite web| title = Om Bondebylauget| url = http://www.bondebylauget.dk/| access-date = 2011-10-07| archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20120425051723/http://www.bondebylauget.dk/| archive-date = 2012-04-25| url-status = dead}} its president, Niels Friderichsen, is generally recognized to have saved Bondebyen from destruction by the buldozer-happy Lyngby-Taarbæk municipality.{{Cite news| author = Michael Bast| author-link = Michael Bast| title = Gårdejeren og hans familie på Vilhelminelyst i Bondebyen| work = Det Grønne Område| url = http://www.e-pages.dk/dgo/82/52| date = 30 September 2008}} Most of the buildings in Bondebyen are now listed.{{Cite book| author = Ulf Wesley Johnsen| author-link = Ulf Wesley Johnsen| title = Bondebyen i billeder - en billedlig historie uden ord fra et unikt boligmiljø i hjertet af Kongens Lyngby| isbn = 87-89724-14-3| year = 2006| publisher = Idon}}{{Cite book| author = Lene Olesen, Niels Erik Jensen| title = Et Stykke af Lyngby.
