Toponymy

The name of the falls should mean speckled or white foaming pool.{{cite book | chapter-url = https://books.google.com/books?id=r5hfAAAAcAAJ&q=Bracklinn+Falls+Foaming&pg=PA221 | chapter = Bracklinn Falls| pages = 221 | title = Black's Picturesque Tourist of Scotland | author = Adam and Charles Black | publisher = A. and C. The Bridge

In 2004, a long-standing steel footbridge over the falls was washed away by severe floods. In October 2010, a new, 20-tonne wood-and-copper footbridge, spanning 20m across a very deep gorge, was hauled into place by hand because the location made it impossible to use a crane.{{cite web|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-11500823|title=Bracklinn Falls Bridge hauled over gorge by hand|publisher=BBC News Scotland|date=2010-10-08|accessdate=2011-07-10}} In July 2011, this new bridge won an award at the International Footbridge Awards.{{cite web|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-14067871|title=Bracklinn Falls Bridge wins international award|publisher=BBC News Scotland|date=2011-07-07|accessdate=2011-07-10}} In the winter of 2020, "some areas of deterioration requiring further examination" were noted on the bridge, and it was closed for several months. The wooden, award-winning bridge was deemed unsafe and a replacement metal bridge was commissioned, expected to open in 2022 and finally opening to the public in March 2023.{{Cite web |date=2021-07-14 |title=Award-winning Bracklinn Falls bridge to be replaced after just a decade on site |url=https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/homenews/19440348.award-winning-bracklinn-falls-bridge-replaced-just-decade-site/ |access-date=2023-08-29 |website=HeraldScotland |language=en}}{{Cite web |last=Lomond |first=Loch |last2=G83 8EG |first2=The Trossachs National Park Authority Carrochan Carrochan Road Balloch |title=Bracklinn Bridge currently closed - Here.
