Biography

Born in Long Island, New York, Barker was a vaudeville performer and an actor in stock theater.{{cite news |last1=Goldstein |first1=Alvin H. |title=Big Noise in Radio and Screen World |url=https://www.newspapers.com/clip/60106715/bradley-barker/ |access-date=September 27, 2020 |work=St. Louis Post-Dispatch |date=December 13, 1942 |page=66|via = Newspapers.com}} He appeared in 70 films between 1915 and 1928. He also directed seven films between 1929 and 1930.

After he worked as an actor, Barker began creating sound effects for radio programs and films. He provided the sound of the MGM lion on screen before the studio began using a recording of a real lion and provided sounds of a variety of animals on radio. Radio programs on which he worked included Let's Pretend{{cite book|last1=Terrace|first1=Vincent|title=Radio Programs, 1924-1984: A Catalog of More Than 1800 Shows|date=1999|publisher=McFarland & Company, Inc.|isbn=978-0-7864-4513-4|page=195}} and Little Orphan Annie.{{r|rp|page1=303}}
