Branchial chamber
The branchial chamber in decapods and some other crustaceans is the area of the body containing the branchiae, or gills. In shrimp-like decapods, water enters the chamber from the edges of the carapace. In crab-like decapods, it enters from respiratory channels near the chelipeds.{{Cite web |title=Crustacea Glossary::Definitions |url=https://research.nhm.org/glossary/define.html?termID=89 |access-date=2024-06-16 |website=research.nhm.org}}{{Cite book |last=Stachowitsch |first=Michael |title=The invertebrates: an illustrated glossary |last2=Proidl |first2=Sylvie |date=1992 |publisher=Wiley-Liss |isbn=978-0-471-83294-2 |location=New York}}
