Branchpoint Binding Protein

{{Short description|Oren mRNA processing factor}}

Branchpoint Binding Protein (BBP) is an Orem RNA processing factor. The protein complex binds to the branchpoint sequence (BPS) in the pre-mRNA, aiding in splice site recognition.{{Cite web|url =http://www.umbc.edu/bioclass/biol414/wiki/index.php?page=BBP_Involved_in_Splice_Site_Recognition|archive-url =https://web.archive.org/web/20100531150018/http://www.umbc.edu/bioclass/biol414/wiki/index.php?page=BBP_Involved_in_Splice_Site_Recognition|url-status =dead|archive-date =2010-05-31|title =BBP Involved in Splice Site Recognition}}

The role of the protein in yeast cells has been the subject of study, as for other eukaryotic cells.{{Cite book|title = The branchpoint binding protein: in and out of the spliceosome cycle|series = Adv Exp Med Biol|doi = 10.1007/978-1-4419-7005-3_9|pmid = 21189690 |volume=693 |year=2010 |pages=123–41|last1 = Rymond|first1 = B.
