Critical reception

The Fresno Bee called the album "funny and well-done, with one very annoying flaw ... the laughs that follow each gag are clipped, obviously cut short in the studio."{{cite news |last1=Pollock |first1=Dennis |title=Father and Priest Offer Some Comedy |work=The Fresno Bee |date=August 8, 1986 |page=G10}} The San Francisco Chronicle wrote that "Novello is an underrated comic, maybe because his style is so understated, but there's not a wasted moment on this clever, hilarious album."{{cite news |last1=Nachman |first1=Gerald |title=Also worth a somewhat shorter trek... |work=San Francisco Chronicle |date=August 24, 1986 |department=Sunday Datebook |page=17}}
