History

The company was founded by Michael Tessler and Scott D. Hoffpauir in 1998.{{cite web|title=Broadsoft CEO Michael Tessler Gave Keynote Speech at StartupCamp6|url=https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20120911006491/en/BroadSoft-Co-Founder-CEO-Michael-Tessler-Takes-Center|website=Businesswire}} Prior to Broadsoft, Tessler worked at several telecommunications manufacturers and later joined Celcore, a wireless startup. Following the acquisition of Celcore by Alcatel, Tessler and Hoffpauir, an executive at Alcatel, decided to branch out on their own and create BroadSoft. BroadSoft then received $5 million in Series A round funding.{{cite web|title=Broadsoft CEO Michael Tessler Shares His Entrepreneurial Journey at StartupCamp6 Comms Edition|url=http://news.tmcnet.com/topics/articles/2012/10/04/310728-broadsoft-ceo-michael-tessler-shares-his-entrepreneurial-journey.htm|website=TMCNet}}
