Broadsheet was a monthly New Zealand feminist magazine produced in Auckland from 1972 to 1997. The magazine played a significant part in New Zealand women's activism.{{cite web |first=Ben |last=Schrader |url= https://teara.govt.nz/en/object/44394/broadsheet |title=Story: Magazines and periodicals |work=Te Ara: The Encyclopedia of New Zealand |access-date=19 July 2018 |date=22 October 2014}} It was to become one of the world's longest-lived feminist magazines.{{Cite web|url=https://nzhistory.govt.nz/women-together/broadsheet-collective|title='Broadsheet Collective', Women Together|last=Daly|first=Carmel|website=NZHistory|access-date=9 Feb 2019}}
It was co-founded by Anne Else, Sandra Coney, Rosemary Ronald, and Kitty Wishart.{{cite news|last=Rose|first=Jeremy|title=Influential Kiwis talk about their Influences|url= http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/ideas/20091206|access-date=7 May 2014|work=Radio New Zealand|date=6 December 2009}}{{Cite book|title=Been Around for Quite a While: Twenty Years of Broadsheet Magazine|last=Rosier|first=Pat|publisher=New Women's Press|year=1982|location=Auckland|pages=10}} The magazine was "New Zealand's first feminist magazine focusing on women's issues and information sharing on a national and international level".Auckland City Libraries, Broadsheet Collective, p 2
The first issue was released in July 1972, and "consisted of twelve foolscap pages – stapled"; 200 copies were produced, which sold out. Before the second issue was published they had 50 paid subscribers.
Māori issues sometimes received considerable coverage in the magazine, which provoked "fierce exchanges in the letters pages".
On 19 September 1992, the magazine and New Women's Press (NWP) celebrated a joint anniversary (Broadsheet's twentieth and NWP's tenth), with a Suffrage Day event in Auckland, attended by more than 200 women. The event was part of the Listener Women's Book Festival. Speakers included Pat Rosier, Sandra Coney, Wendy Harrex, Stephanie Johnson and Sheridan Keith.{{Cite journal |date=Summer 1992 |title=The twentieth birthday of Broadsheet and the tenth of New Women's Press |url=https://broadsheet.auckland.ac.nz/ |journal=Broadsheet Magazine |volume=196 |pages=33}}
The magazine is now an important source for the social history of the period, and the entire back catalogue of Broadsheet is available on the University of Auckland website.{{cite web | title=1997 | website=Broadsheet, New Zealand's Feminist Magazine 1972–1997 | url=https://broadsheet.auckland.ac.nz/ | access-date=11 February 2021}}
