Brontopodus is an ichnogenus of dinosaur footprint by sauropod trackmaker. This ichnogenus is mainly characterized by a wide-gauge trackway, which is distinguishable from narrow-gauge sauropod tracks like Breviparopus or Parabrontopodus.{{cite journal |last1=Lockley |first1=Martin G. |last2=Farlow |first2=James O. |last3=Meyer |first3=Christian A. |title=Brontopodus and Parabrontopodus ichnogen. nov. and the significance of wide-and narrow-gauge sauropod trackways. |journal=Gaia |date=1994 |volume=10 |pages=135-145 |url=https://www.researchgate.net/publication/234177028_Brontopodus_and_Parabrontopodus_ichnogen_nov_and_the_significance_of_wide-_and_narrow-gauge_sauropod_trackways}} Sauropods with broad bodies, such as titanosaurs are thought to be their trackmakers.{{cite journal |last1=Wilson |first1=Jeffrey A. |last2=Carrano |first2=Matthew T. |title=Titanosaurs and the origin of “wide-gauge” trackways: a biomechanical and systematic perspective on sauropod locomotion |journal=Paleobiology |date=1999 |volume=25 |issue=2 |pages=252–267 |doi=10.1017/S0094837300026543}}
