History

In 2007, BuyMyTronics.com was operated and founded by Brett Mosley. In his first year, he hired two employees, fixed 1,000 iPods, and branched out into fixing his first dozen iPhones and game consoles. Fixed models were resold online, and other models were scrapped for their parts; Mosley stated that this was both profitable and productive toward electronic waste mitigation.{{cite news|url=https://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/26/technology/26bits.html?fta=y|title=Broken Devices Get a Second Life|author=Stone, Brad|work=The New York Times|date=2007-11-26|accessdate=2009-03-17}} His company repaired, resold, or stripped hundreds items of electronic waste per week, including cell phones, iPods, iPhones, game consoles, PDAs, Apple laptops, and MP3 players, and offered free shipping.{{cite news|url=https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2326527,00.asp|publisher=PC Magazine|work=News and Analysis|title=Gazelle Will Give You Cash for Your Gadgets|date=2008-07-28|author=Albanesius, Chloe|accessdate=2009-03-05|archive-date=2009-03-23|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090323070745/http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2326527,00.asp|url-status=dead}}{{Cite news |last=Meece |first=Mickey |date=2012-05-23 |title=A Second Chance for Idle Electronics |language=en-US |work=The New York Times |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/24/technology/personaltech/a-second-chance-for-idle-electronics.html |access-date=2023-04-06 |issn=0362-4331}}
