Byais (also spelled bya-is, biya-is, or biyais), is a traditional Filipino wine from the Mansaka people of Davao de Oro. It is made from boiled lengkuas ({{lang|msk|pal'la}}, {{lang|msk|palla}}, {{lang|msk|panla}}, or {{lang|msk|pangla}} in Mansaka) mixed with honey or sugarcane juice which are then fermented in tightly sealed earthen jars ({{lang|msk|tadyaw}}). It has a sharp flavor reminiscent of citrus fruits or pine needles.{{cite journal |last1=Garcia |first1=Ian Rav |title=Back in Maragusan |journal=Mindanao Times |date=28 February 2019 |url=http://mindanaotimes.com.ph/2019/02/28/wanderlust-back-in-maragusan/}}{{cite news |last1=Cascaro |first1=Lorie Ann |title=Tribes hold ritual to end curse of 'Pablo', vow to protect environment |url=https://www.mindanews.com/top-stories/2013/01/tribes-hold-ritual-to-end-curse-of-pablo-vow-to-protect-environment/ |access-date=19 August 2021 |work=MindaNews |date=16 January 2013}}{{cite news |last1=Maestre |first1=Fe F |title=Extra Mile for Public Service: ComVal SP Member Uy's journey to Brgy.
