The C&C 27 is a family of Canadian sailboats, that was designed by Robert W. Ball and first built in 1970. The design is out of production.{{cite web|url = https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/cc-27-mk-i|title = C&C 27 MK I sailboat specifications and details|accessdate = 30 December 2016|last= Browning| first = Randy |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2016|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210718145247/https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/cc-27-mk-i|archive-date= 18 July 2021|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url = http://www.sailingjoy.com/sailboat_specs/sailboat_specs/view/633/c-c-27-1|title = Sailboat Specifications for C&C 27-1|accessdate = 30 December 2016|work = Sailing Joy|author = InterVisionSoft LLC|year = 2016|archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20170101002614/http://www.sailingjoy.com/sailboat_specs/sailboat_specs/view/633/c-c-27-1|archive-date = 1 January 2017|url-status = dead}}

Production

The boat was built by C&C Yachts in Canada, with some also produced in the United States.{{cite web|url = https://sailboatdata.com/builder/cc-yachts|title = C&C Yachts|access-date = 7 March 2022|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2022|archive-url= https://archive.today/20201015222748/https://sailboatdata.com/builder/cc-yachts|archive-date= 15 October 2020|url-status= live}}

The design was developed into the Trapper 500 and built in the UK.

An "unauthorized copy" was built in Austria as the Korneuburg 27 (K 27).

Design

The C&C 27 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fibreglass, with a balsa core deck. It has a masthead sloop rig and a fixed fin keel. The first four variants (or "Marks") of the C&C 27 are refinements of the original design; the C&C 27 Mk V is a different design.

Operational history

In a review of C&C's best and worst boats, Doug Hunter wrote, "It shared many of the [C&C] 35's admirable qualities. Most notable were its phenomenally solid construction and incredible stability. It was not an outstanding performer upwind, but was a great reacher, which suited cruisers just fine. All in all, a terrific cruiser that still attracted a racing following."{{cite web|url = http://www.cncphotoalbum.com/archive/cnchistory/c2c.htm|title =From C To C Presenting the greatest hits (and a few misses) from two turbulent decades at C&C Yachts|accessdate = 14 August 2019|last=Hunter |first=Doug |work = Canadian Yachting|year = 2018|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210718145247/http://www.cncphotoalbum.com/archive/cnchistory/c2c.htm|archive-date= 18 July 2021|url-status= live}}

In a review, Practical Sailor wrote, "this fast and handsome racer/cruiser from the 1970s is an excellent example of what made C&C Yachts such a successful company."{{cite web|url = https://www.practical-sailor.com/issues/26_23/boatreview/CC_27_4461-1.html|title =Boat Review C&C 27|accessdate = 14 August 2019|work = Practical Sailor|year = 2000|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210718145305/https://www.practical-sailor.com/sailboat-reviews/used_sailboats/cc-27|archive-date= 18 July 2021|url-status= live}}
