The California Evidence Code (abbreviated to Evid. Code in the California Style Manual) is a California code that was enacted by the California State Legislature on May 18, 1965[https://clerk.assembly.ca.gov/sites/clerk.assembly.ca.gov/files/archive/Statutes/1965/65Vol1_65Chapters.pdf#page=433 Stats. 1965, Ch. 299], pp. 1297–1370 to codify the formerly mostly common-law law of evidence.
