Career
Price obtained a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Queensland and early in his career worked as a reporter for WIN Television in Toowoomba as well as Nine News in Brisbane.
In 2011 Price was nominated for the Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year award.{{cite web|url=http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/06/sbs-reporter-yaara-bou-melhem-named-young-journalist-of-the-year.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110630060414/http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/06/sbs-reporter-yaara-bou-melhem-named-young-journalist-of-the-year.html|url-status=live|archive-date=30 June 2011|title=SBS reporter Yaara Bou Melhem named Young Journalist of the Year|date=22 June 2011|accessdate=23 March 2016|author=David Knox|work=TV Tonight}}
His career at Nine News Queensland came to a controversial end, when he was sacked along with two others for his involvement in the faking of a live news cross during a news bulletin. The event which became known as "choppergate" saw news presenter Eva Milic cross to Price who was in a helicopter reported to be "near Beerwah", however it later emerged the helicopter was on a Nine Network helipad in Mt Coot-Tha 90 kilometres away.{{cite web|url=http://mumbrella.com.au/did-nine-news-fake-live-cross-from-chopper-55249|title=Choppergate: Nine News admits faking live cross from helicopter|date=22 August 2011|accessdate=23 March 2016|archivedate=23 March 2016|url-status=live|work=Mumbrella|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160323061205/http://mumbrella.com.au/did-nine-news-fake-live-cross-from-chopper-55249}}{{cite web|url=http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2011/s3302677.htm|title=Nine sacks staff over 'Choppergate' scandal|work=ABC World Today|date=26 August 2011|accessdate=23 March 2016|archivedate=23 March 2016|author=Matt Wordsworth|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160323061745/http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2011/s3302677.htm|url-status=live}} Price began legal action against Nine, however the two parties settled out of court.{{cite web|url=http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/10/choppergate-reporter-drops-case-against-nine.html|title='Choppergate' reporter drops case against Nine |date=23 October 2011|accessdate=23 March 2016|author=David Knox|work=TV Tonight|archivedate=23 March 2016|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160323061925/http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2011/10/choppergate-reporter-drops-case-against-nine.html|url-status=live}} Price had been due to move to Sydney to take up a position with the Nine Network in the week he was sacked.{{cite web|url=http://www.couriermail.com.au/archive/entertainment/choppergate-scandal-began-with-quiet-backyard-barbecue/story-e6freqj6-1226123188695|title=Choppergate scandal began with quiet backyard barbecue|publisher=The Courier Mail|first1=Sam|last1=Strutt|first2=Geoff|last2=Shearer|date=27 August 2011|accessdate=3 December 2016}}
