The Canadian Efficiency Decoration (ED) was a Canadian military award given to officers of the Non-Permanent Active Militia, RCAF Auxiliary and Reserve who completed twenty years of meritorious military service. Similar Efficiency Decorations were also awarded by other Commonwealth countries. A bar was issued for an additional 20 years of meritorious service. Approximately 3,700 medals were issued.{{cite web|title=Efficiency and Long Service Decorations and Medals - Canadian Efficiency Decoration|url=http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/collections/cmdp/mainmenu/group11/edc|work=Efficiency and Long Service Decorations and Medals|publisher=Veterans Affairs Canada|accessdate=2 September 2013}}

Time spent in war service counted double towards the 20 year requirement and time spent in the ranks counted as half. The award was superseded by the Air Efficiency Award for members of the RCAF Auxiliary and Reserve in 1942. Eligible members who entered the Canadian Forces before 1 September 1939 continued to be eligible for award of the Canadian Efficiency Decoration and bars to the decoration.{{cite web|title=Obsolete Long Service Awards|url=http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhr-ddhr/chc-tdh/lsm-da-eng.asp|work=Canadian Honours Chart|publisher=National Defence and the Canadian Forces|accessdate=2 September 2013|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20131017004918/http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhr-ddhr/chc-tdh/lsm-da-eng.asp|archive-date=17 October 2013|url-status=dead}} Members who had joined after that time were eligible for the Canadian Forces' Decoration, which superseded the Canadian Efficiency Decoration, on its establishment in 1949.{{cite web|title=Canadian Forces' Decoration (CD)|url=http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhr-ddhr/chc-tdh/chart-tableau-eng.asp?ref=CD|work=Canadian Honours Chart|publisher=National Defence and the Canadian Forces|accessdate=2 September 2013|archive-date=21 March 2013|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130321011817/http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhr-ddhr/chc-tdh/chart-tableau-eng.asp?ref=CD|url-status=dead}}
