The Canoa Formation is a Piacenzian to Calabrian (Chapadmalalan to Uquian in the SALMA classification) geologic formation in Ecuador. The sandstones were deposited in a coastal environment.[https://paleobiodb.org/classic/displayStrata?geological_group=&formation=Canoa&group_formation_member=Canoa Canoa Formation] at Fossilworks.org The formation is correlated to the Charco Azul Formation of western Panama and southeastern Costa Rica.[https://paleobiodb.org/classic/displayCollResults?collection_no=130893 Charco Azul Formation] at Fossilworks.org
