History

In 2011, Greg Loftus moved from Boston, Massachusetts to Austin, Texas and started the band a year later.{{cite web|url=http://redlineroots.blogspot.com/2013/07/carpetbagger-far-off-daybreak-call-ep.html|title=Carpetbagger, "Far Off The Daybreak Call" EP Review|publisher=Red Line Roots|date=2013-07-24|accessdate=2014-05-09}}{{cite web|url=http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/414686|title=Greg Loftus with The Kieran Ridge Band and Patrick Coman|publisher=Brown Paper Tickets|accessdate=2014-05-09}} The band released its first EP titled "Far Off The Daybreak Call" on August 2, 2013.{{cite news|publisher=Austin Monthly|title=Far Off The Daybreak Call Review|date=August 2013}} The album was named after the last stanza of Walt Whitman's poem "O Pioneers". Far Off The Daybreak Call was recorded live over a weekend at Loftus' house in Austin. The band's first performance as Carpetbagger with the Far Off The Daybreak Call lineup was at SXSW 2013 on 6th Street.
