The village lies in a valley between the Boggeragh and Derrynasaggart mountain ranges.

Local townlands include Carriganima (Carraig an Ime), Knockraheen (Cnoc Raithín), Cusloura (Cois Labhra), Glendav (Gleann Daimh), Glantane East & West (Gleanntán) and Moanflugh (An Muine Fliuch).
