Overcategorization in this category

I wonder if many of the articles on programming languages in this category are overcategorized? Per {{section link|WP:CAT|Categorizing pages}}, "each categorized page should be placed in all of the most specific categories to which it logically belongs. This means that if a page belongs to a subcategory of C (or a subcategory of a subcategory of C, and so on) then it is not normally placed directly into C."

I noticed this overcategorization issue when I saw that {{U|Charmk}} {{Diff|AppleScript|818411745|810301553|categorized AppleScript|diffonly=yes}} into :Category:Programming languages and into several subcategories such as :Category:Dynamic programming languages and :Category:High-level programming languages. (I see in {{U|Charmk}}'s history that {{U|Charmk}} may have categorized a number of other articles on programming languages similarly.) But per the guideline just mentioned, if an article is categorized into one or more subcategories of this category, it should not also be in this category (unless the subcategories are non-diffusing subcategories, but that doesn't appear to be the case here). Standard examples

It would be helpful if there were a small set of "standard" tasks and all pages on programming languages showed how to do them all (e.g., compute prime numbers, compute the squares of the numbers 1 to 10, print "Hello, world!"). Where should I suggest this? LachlanA (talk) 00:54, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
