The Cavapoo (American English) or Cavoodle (Australian English) is a crossbreed of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. The cavapoo is speculated to have been first bred by designer dog breeders in Australia in the 1950s{{cite web |url=https://www.purina.co.uk/find-a-pet/dog-breeds/cavapoo#:~:text=Several%20countries%20lay%20claim%20to,with%20Poodles%20really%20became%20popular. |title=Dog Breeds: Cavapoo |author= |website=www.purina.co.uk |publisher=Purina |access-date=June 26, 2024 |quote=}} as a companion dog with similar traits to the cockapoo, but at a smaller size.{{Cite book |last=Hale |first=Rachael |title=Dogs:101 adorable breeds |date=2008 |publisher=Andrews McMeel Publishing |isbn=978-0-7407-7342-6 |location=Kansas City}}
Cavapoos can come in many colors, including white, golden, brown, and black, often with a contrasting white tuft of fur on their chests.{{r|Purina}} They can even be tricolored in a similar vein to Calico cats. The Cavapoo is known for being hypoallergenic, as they are part Poodle, however this is a misconception. Studies have shown that no breed is truly hypoallergenic, but instead are simply less likely to cause a reaction.{{Cite journal |last1=Nicholas |first1=Charlotte E. |last2=Wegienka |first2=Ganesa R. |last3=Havstad |first3=Suzanne L. |last4=Zoratti |first4=Edward M. |last5=Ownby |first5=Dennis R. |last6=Johnson |first6=Christine Cole |date=July 2011 |title=Dog Allergen Levels in Homes with Hypoallergenic Compared with Nonhypoallergenic Dogs |journal=American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy |language=en |volume=25 |issue=4 |pages=252–256 |doi=10.2500/ajra.2011.25.3606 |issn=1945-8924 |pmc=3680143 |pmid=21819763}}{{Cite journal |last1=Vredegoor |first1=Doris W. |last2=Willemse |first2=Ton |last3=Chapman |first3=Martin D. |last4=Heederik |first4=Dick J.J. |last5=Krop |first5=Esmeralda J.M. |date=October 2012 |title=Can f 1 levels in hair and homes of different dog breeds: Lack of evidence to describe any dog breed as hypoallergenic |url=https://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S0091674912007932 |journal=Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology |volume=130 |issue=4 |pages=904–909.e7 |doi=10.1016/j.jaci.2012.05.013 |pmid=22728082 |hdl=1874/259846 |issn=0091-6749|hdl-access=free }} They are very energetic around humans and even cats.
