History
It was built in the eighteenth century. It spans seventeen hectares.Dominique Auzias, Aix-en-Provence: Pays aixois et salonais, Le Petit Futé, 2008, p. 287 [https://books.google.com/books?id=QuMgNOGgBncC&dq=%22Ch%C3%A2teau+de+la+Gaude%22+aix&pg=PA282] The driveway to the three-story bastide is bordered by chestnut trees on each side. The garden has ponds, fountains, a French formal garden with a yew maze, several terraces, and even an alleyway for butterfly-hunting. Additionally, there is a chapel.Les Monuments historiques de la France, La Caisse nationale des monuments historiques, 1963, Volumes 9-10, p. 42 [https://books.google.com/books?id=xKOfAAAAMAAJ&q=%22Ch%C3%A2teau+de+la+Gaude%22+aix] The estate is also home to a vineyard, and sells wine.
