The development was approved in January 2022 upon consent given by the City of Lincoln Council.{{cite web |last1=Foden |first1=Craig |title=Western Growth Corridor |url=https://www.lincoln.gov.uk/western-growth-corridor#:~:text=October%20Update%2C%202023%3A,site%20have%20now%20been%20submitted. |website=City of Lincoln Council |access-date=13 June 2024}} Work on the project began in August 2023 with temporary traffic lights being installed around Birchwood Avenue and Skellingthorpe Road while equipment and groundworks as well as road alignments and traffic light installations were taking place.
