The surface was later paved and the racetrack continued in operation until the Bodine family closed it in 1978.{{Cite news |last=Levanduski |first=Ron |date=April 27, 2016 |title=Chemung Speedrome kicks off season with big races |url=https://www.stargazette.com/story/sports/2016/04/27/chemung-speedrome-kicks-off-season-big-races/83615752/ |access-date=March 9, 2025 |work=Star-Gazette |location=Elmira NY}}
