Cherenkov Array at Themis

{{Short description|Gamma-ray telescope in France}}

The Cherenkov Array at Themis (CAT) was an imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope (IACT) for detection of very-high-energy gamma rays (~200 GeV to a few tens of TeV). The project started operation in Autumn 1996 on the site of the former solar plant Thémis, France.{{cite book|title=L'observation en astrophysique |trans-title=Observational Astrophysics |first1=Pierre |last1=Léna |author-link1=Pierre Léna|first2=Daniel |last2=Rouan |author-link2=Daniel Rouan |first3=François |last3=Lebrun |first4=François |last4=Mignard |author-link4=François Mignard |first5=Didier |last5=Pelat |translator-last1=Lyle |translator-first1=S. |publisher=Springer |year=2012 |isbn=978-3-642-21814-9 |edition=3rd |doi=10.1007/978-3-642-21815-6 |page=411}}{{cite journal |first1=A. |last1= Barrau |first2=R. |last2= Bazer-Bachi |first3=E. |last3=Beyer |first4=H. |last4=Cabot |display-authors=3 |title=The CAT imaging telescope for very-high-energy gamma-ray astronomy |journal= Nucl.
