Background

Describing the lyrical content of the song, Vecchioni claimed it refers to two different "nights" to be fought: "a horrible collective night, and an existential one. We need to agree on something, some kind of faith or hope, otherwise we are not going anywhere".{{cite web|url=http://archivio.panorama.it/cultura/musica/Chiamami-ancora-amore-Roberto-Vecchioni-il-poetastro-vince-e-unisce-il-Festival|work=Panorama|language=Italian|accessdate=3 November 2016|title=Chiamami ancora amore, Roberto Vecchioni: il poetastro vince (e unisce) il Festival|author=Diletta Petrangeli|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161104080922/http://archivio.panorama.it/cultura/musica/Chiamami-ancora-amore-Roberto-Vecchioni-il-poetastro-vince-e-unisce-il-Festival|archive-date=4 November 2016|url-status=dead}} Linguist Giuseppe Antonelli, writing for web magazine Rockol, praised Vecchioni's choice to compose

a song with lyrics defending culture and freedom of thought, but using a language which is very close to the commonly spoken Italian.{{cite web|url=http://www.rockol.it/news-211039/sanremo-2011-il-testo-roberto-vecchioni-voto-del-linguista?refresh_ce|publisher=Rockol.it|language=Italian|accessdate=3 November 2016|title=Sanremo 2011: il testo di Roberto Vecchioni, il voto del linguista|author=Giuseppe Antonelli|date=15 February 2011}}
