Reception
A critic from Chitraloka.com wrote that "No fights, not much of melodrama (exception to first half) a bunch of friends looking after the comedy department and Gurukiran to make you crazy and of course handling the minute elements effectively is what draws you to this film".{{Cite web|url=https://www.chitraloka.com/movie-reviews/2694-chitra-review.html|title=Chitra Movie Review|date=18 May 2002|work=Chitraloka.com|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20010609161555fw_/http://www.chitraloka.com/english/knock_out/chitra.html|archive-date=9 June 2001}} A critic from indiainfo rated the film three out of five and wrote that "Though Chitra has a serious social message, it is packed with good humour & acting by co-stars. Dinesh Babu's story telling with humour is there in this movie too. Hence it is a well-balanced movie".{{Cite web|url=http://movies.indiainfo.com/kannada/reviews/chitra.html|title=Teenager's Chitra|website=indiainfo.com|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20020611200042/http://movies.indiainfo.com/kannada/reviews/chitra.html|archive-date=11 June 2002}}
