Cho Bae-sook ({{Korean|hangul=조배숙}}; born 10 September 1956) is a South Korean politician and legislator, serving as the Chairwoman of the liberal Party for Democracy and Peace,{{cite web|url=http://m.scmp.com/news/asia/east-asia/article/2132574/south-koreas-liberal-parties-all-led-women|title=South Korea's liberal parties all led by women|publisher=}} a party that split from the People's Party following Ahn Cheol-soo's decision to merge with the Bareun Party to form the Bareunmirae Party.{{cite web|url=http://m.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20180206000783#cb|title=People's Party defectors launch new liberal party|date=6 February 2018|publisher=}} Cho is one of three women leading prominent South Korean liberal parties, along with Choo Mi-ae of the Minjoo Party and Lee Jeong-mi of the Justice Party.

Biography

Cho studied at Seoul National University and received a Bachelor's and master's degree in law.{{Cite web|url=https://0531.or.kr/assemblym/34784|title=Cho Bae-sook National Congress|website=0531.or.kr|language=ko|access-date=2018-06-23|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180623085103/https://0531.or.kr/assemblym/34784|archive-date=2018-06-23|url-status=dead}} She worked as a prosecutor and eventually served as a Judge in the Seoul District Court of Civil Affairs, and the Seoul Appellate Court. Cho was also elected to the National Assembly.
