"February 9, 1970, was and always will be the most joyful, most extraordinary day of my life, the day Christian Gudegast was born, the day I became a father. [...] We were more anxious than concerned when Dale's due date came and went, until late one afternoon, when she felt something was terribly wrong and I rushed her to the emergency room. [...] I was watching the doctor on call pull Dale's X-rays out of an oversized manila envelope. His eyes widened and his face turned white, and next thing I knew he and a nurse were wheeling Dale into surgery for an emergency C-section."Weiss, Jacqueline (October 26, 2023).
