Biography

The eldest son of George Penkivil Slade {{Post-nominals|country=GBR|size=90%|KC}} (a kinsman of Sir Benjamin Slade, although not in remainder to the baronetcy) and Mary Carnegie,{{cite web|title=Sir Christopher John Slade |url= http://www.thepeerage.com/p61430.htm#i614297 |publisher=The Peerage |accessdate=31 May 2014}} he had two younger brothers, Julian (the composer) and Adrian (President of the Liberal Party),{{cite web|title=Biography|url=http://www.julianslade.com/html/biography.html|publisher=Julian Slade - official website|accessdate=31 May 2014|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140802001745/http://www.julianslade.com/html/biography.html|archive-date=2 August 2014|url-status=dead}} as well as a sister, Pauline (who married David Hamilton-Russell, a grandson of the 8th Viscount Boyne).

Married in 1958 to Jane Buckley, daughter of the Rt Hon.
