__NOTOC__
Christwire is a satirical website that published blog-style articles intended to ridicule excesses of American Christian conservatives. Recurring topics include homosexuality, atheism, Hollywood, and other purported threats to American culture.{{cite news |url= http://www.theatlanticwire.com/opinions/view/opinion/Satirical-Christian-Site-Hoodwinks-the-Huffington-Post-4766 |title= Satirical Christian Site Hoodwinks the Huffington Post |author=John Hudson |date=August 19, 2010 |work=The Atlantic Wire}}{{cite news |url= http://www.theatlanticwire.com/opinions/view/opinion/Rachel-Maddow-and-NBC-Struggle-With-Satire-6795 |title=Rachel Maddow and NBC Struggle With Satire |author=John Hudson |date=February 1, 2011 |work=The Atlantic Wire}}{{cite news |url= http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/18/signs-your-husband-is-gay_n_687160.html |title=9 Signs Your Husband Is GAY, According To ChristWire.org (PHOTOS) |work=Huffington Post |author= Katla McGlynn |date=August 18, 2010}}{{cite news |url= http://www.smh.com.au/national/the-diary/line-of-inquiry-crosses-a-line-20100818-12f98.html |title=Line of inquiry crosses a line |work=The Sydney Morning Herald |date=August 19, 2010}}
Like similar satirical websites, Christwire's stories have sometimes been erroneously taken at face value. According to co-founder Kirwin Watson, their target is not Christians but "those who do not question what they hear on the news".{{cite news |last=Oppenheimer |first=Mark |title=A Niche of the Unreal in a World of Credulity |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/04/us/04beliefs.html |date=September 3, 2010 |newspaper=The New York Times |access-date=June 5, 2021}}
