General Chung Ho-yong ({{korean|정호용|鄭鎬溶}}; born 10 September 1932) is a South Korean politician and army general, who was held the positions of minister of the interior and later minister of defense. He is considered as one of the best friends of Chun Doo-hwan and Roh Tae-woo, who both served as President of South Korea.
In January 1996, Chung was tried over his complicity in the brutal suppression of the Gwangju Uprising. Later that year, he was found guilty of treason. The prosecution requested a life sentence, albeit Chung instead received a 10-year sentence. In December 1997, Chung was released from prison after being pardoned by President Kim Young-sam.{{Cite news |last=Pollack |first=Andrew |date=1997-12-21 |title=New Korean Leader Agrees to Pardon of 2 Ex-Dictators |language=en-US |work=The New York Times |url=https://www.nytimes.com/1997/12/21/world/new-korean-leader-agrees-to-pardon-of-2-ex-dictators.html |access-date=2023-06-25 |issn=0362-4331}}
