In 2011, Rama Narayanan began work on the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film My Dear Karadi (1999) titled Siva Poojayil Karadi ({{Translation|Bear in Shiva Puja}}). The film was to be set in Malaysia with Shiva reprising Kalabhavan Mani's role and Vennira Aadai Moorthy, M. S. A critic from Kosmo! wrote that "The determination to produce the film is there but the effort to give meaning to a film is not visible". A critic wrote that "This film seems, which I saw based on the production, to be made by Indians; it does look like a Tamil / Hindi film that uses Malaysian as the language of conversation.
