Cladomelea is a genus of African orb-weaver spiders first described by Eugène Simon in 1895.{{cite book| last=Simon| first=E| title=Histoire naturelle des araignées| year=1892| url=https://archive.org/details/histoirenaturel31unkngoog| doi=10.5962/bhl.title.51973}} Adult females of the genus are bolas spiders, capturing their prey with one or more sticky drops at the end of a single line of silk rather than in a web. Males and juvenile females capture their prey directly with their legs.{{Citation |mode=cs1 |last1=Levi |first1=H.W. |date=2003 |title=The bolas spiders of the genus Mastophora (Araneae: Araneidae) |journal=Bulletin of the Museum of Comparative Zoology |volume=157 |pages=309–382 }}
