{{One source|date=July 2010}}

In mathematics, coarse functions are functions that may appear to be continuous at a distance, but in reality are not necessarily continuous.Chul-Woo Lee and Jared Duke (2007), [https://scholar.rose-hulman.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1198&context=rhumj Coarse Function Value Theorems]. Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Journal 8 (2) Although continuous functions are usually observed on a small scale, coarse functions are usually observed on a large scale.
