Latimour played for Auckland Grammar School first XI and was the teams vice captain.{{cite web |title=Chronicle 1965 |url=https://ags.recollect.co.nz/nodes/view/263 |website=Auckland Grammar School Archives |publisher=Auckland Grammar School Chronicle |access-date=5 October 2021 |pages=70}} While playing for the school, he was selected for the Auckland under-21 side.
