The Collegiate Church of the Immaculate Conception ({{langx|mt|Il-Knisja Kolleġġjata tal-Immakulata Kunċizzjoni}}) is a Roman Catholic parish church located in Cospicua, Malta.Grazia Zenzani, M., & Lupo, V. (2 December 2018). History, conservation and restoration of the statue of the Immaculate Conception at Cospicua. The Sunday Times of Malta, pp. 56-57.
History
The original parish church stood on the location of the present church. It was built before the Great Siege of Malta of 1565.[http://www.malta-canada.com/churches-chapels/Bormla.htm "Immaculate Conception Parish Church"]. Retrieved on 21 January 2015. {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180806133524/http://www.malta-canada.com/churches-chapels/Bormla.htm |date=6 August 2018 }} It became a parish in 1586. Because of the growing number of parishioners it was decided to enlarge the church. But by 1684 the church became too small thus the construction of the present church commenced.[http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110910/environment/Collegiate-parish-church-dedicated-to-the-Immaculate-Conception-Cospicua.384075 "Collegiate parish church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, Cospicua"], Times of Malta, Malta, 10 September 2011. Retrieved on 21 January 2015.
The designs of the church are attributed to Vincenzo Casanova while those of the bell towers are attributed to Lorenzo Gafà. The church was finished around 1730. In 1822 the church was elevated to the status of a collegiate church.[http://www.malta.com/en/local-information/parish-church/cospicua "Cospicua (Bormla) Parish Church"]. The dome includes paintings of David, Ezekiel, Moses and Isaiah by Giuseppe Calì from 1884.[https://www.pressreader.com/malta/malta-independent/20190114/281629601431199 Malta Independent]
The church building is listed on the National Inventory of the Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands.{{cite web|title=Collegiate Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception|url=http://www.culturalheritage.gov.mt/filebank/inventory/Chapels%20and%20Niches/00669.pdf|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160810080019/http://www.culturalheritage.gov.mt/filebank/inventory/Chapels%20and%20Niches/00669.pdf|url-status=dead|archive-date=10 August 2016|website=National Inventory of the Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands|accessdate=31 October 2015|date=27 August 2012}}
