In 1831 the occupation of men living in Coreley was largely dominated by farmers and agricultural labourers.{{cite web|url=http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/data_cube_page.jsp?data_theme=T_IND&data_cube=N_OCC_PAR1831&u_id=10351390&c_id=10001043&add=Y|title=Coreley CP/AP through time|accessdate=27 April 2012}}{{cite book |title= 1831 Census of Great Britain, Abstract of Answers |year= 1883 |location= UK |url= http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/census/table_page.jsp?tab_id=GB1831ABS_M[1 |accessdate= 2 May 2012}} In 1881 industry in Coreley was also engaged in mining which attracted the majority of working males whilst others continued with agricultural practices.{{cite web|url=http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/data_cube_page.jsp?data_theme=T_IND&data_cube=N_OCC_ORDER1881&u_id=10351390&c_id=10001043&add=Y|title=Coreley CP/AP through time|accessdate=27 April 2012}}{{cite book |title= 1881 Census of England and Wales, Ages, Table 10, 'Occupations of Males and Females in the Division and its Registration Counties' |year= 1883 |location= UK |url= http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/data_cube_page.jsp?data_theme=T_IND&data_cube=N_OCC_ORDER1881&u_id=10351390&c_id=10001043&add=Y |accessdate= 2 May 2012}}

This contrasts with the more recent 2001 census which states that only 8% of both men and women were working in the agricultural field and mining was no longer represented due to the mining industry being closed down in 1984.{{cite web |url= http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/factsfigures.nsf/viewAttachments/SGAK-8SUECX/$file/P01_39UF022.htm |title= Parish of Coreley 2001 Census Profile |accessdate= 2 May 2012}} The most popular career paths for the population of Coreley, according to 2001 census are: Construction; Health and Social Work and Real Estate.
