The album spent two weeks on the UK Albums Chart, peaking at number 65.{{cite web|url=https://www.officialcharts.com/artist/3877/skinnyman/|title=Skinnyman - Full Official Chart History|website=Official Charts Company|accessdate=5 October 2021}}
Release and legacy
Skinnyman self-recorded the album, taking it to Low Life Records for a formal release. Label owner Joseph Christie, also known as Braintax, shut down the label a few years after the release of Council Estate of Mind, disappearing without compensating Skinnyman with album royalties.{{cite web|last=Stacey|first=Ringo|title=The real story behind Skinnyman's Council Estate of Mind|url=https://theface.com/music/the-real-story-behind-skinnymans-council-estate-of-mind|access-date=2021-10-05|website=The Face|language=en-gb|archive-date=2020-11-07|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20201107234327/https://theface.com/music/the-real-story-behind-skinnymans-council-estate-of-mind|url-status=live}}
