Cröonchy Stars
{{short description|Breakfast cereal made by Post}}
Crø̈ønchy Stars was a breakfast cereal by Post Cereal of North America. The cereal was released in 1988,{{cite web |url=https://www.nytimes.com/1988/08/29/business/the-media-business-advertising-muppet-chef-whips-up-commercials-for-post.html?scp=15&sq=muppet%20magazine&st=cse |title=THE MEDIA BUSINESS: ADVERTISING; Muppet Chef Whips Up Commercials for Post |last1=Barmash |first1=Isadore |date=29 August 1988 |work=New York Times |accessdate=9 March 2013 |archive-date=5 March 2016 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160305091725/http://www.nytimes.com/1988/08/29/business/the-media-business-advertising-muppet-chef-whips-up-commercials-for-post.html?scp=15&sq=muppet%20magazine&st=cse |url-status=live }} and discontinued about a year later, though it made a brief return in 1992. The box featured the Swedish Chef from The Muppet Show, who described the cereal as "cinnamonnamony".{{cite web |url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonliebigstuff/4170833075/ |title=Post – Croonchy Stars cereal box – Stoopid Games box – 1988 |last1=Liebig |first1=Jason |date=9 December 2009 |publisher=Flickr |accessdate=9 March 2013 |archive-date=25 April 2014 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140425144758/https://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonliebigstuff/4170833075/ |url-status=live }} The product's name is likely a pseudo-phonetic rendition of how the Chef would pronounce "crunchy." The back of the box featured ridiculous, and sometimes unsolvable, games and puzzles,{{cite web |url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonliebigstuff/4170833049/in/photostream/ |title=Post – Cröonchy Stars cereal box – poster and transfers – 1989 |last1=Liebig|first1=Jason |date=9 December 2009 |publisher=Flickr |accessdate=9 March 2013}} including a memory-type card game on every box.
Most of the cereal's labeling and promotional material used the idiosyncratic spelling Swed̈ish Chef, with an umlaut over the letter "d". This is an instance of an umlaut being unconventionally used over a consonant, as with Spın̈al Tap.
Nora Singh, a recording studio assistant working with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, is shown eating a bowl of Cröonchy Stars cereal in episode six of the 2023 Disney+ series The Muppets Mayhem, with an original box for the cereal present on the table.{{Cite web|url=https://www.disneyplus.com/video/f41a1abd-ff9f-4421-a4de-1925dd9b94c2|title=Disney+ | Video Player|website=www.disneyplus.com|access-date=2023-06-26|archive-date=2023-05-26|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230526043856/https://www.disneyplus.com/video/f41a1abd-ff9f-4421-a4de-1925dd9b94c2|url-status=live}}
