Crichton is an 1837 historical novel by the British writer William Harrison Ainsworth.Carver p.6 It was published in three volumes by Richard Bentley.Schlicke p.7 It is inspired by the life of the sixteenth century Scottish polymath James Crichton, known as the "Admiral Crichton".
