Cuenca, officially the Municipality of Cuenca ({{langx|tl|Bayan ng Cuenca}}), is a municipality in the province of Batangas, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 36,235 people.{{PH census|current}}

History

Once a part of San Jose, it became an independent town under the name "Cuenca" on either November 7, 1876 or April 7, 1877,{{cite web|url=https://kasaysayansj.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/sjptp-1.pdf|title=San Jose: Parish, Town & People|first=Juan A.|last=Ona|date=June 2020|accessdate=July 20, 2024|website=Kasaysayan ng San Jose}} after the Spanish hometown of the then-Governor of Batangas that resembles its cold breeze and beautiful scenic spots.{{cite web|url=https://www.coa.gov.ph/download/cuenca-executive-summary-2022.pdf|website=Commission on Audit|title=Executive Summary|accessdate=July 20, 2024|date=2022}} Its main tourist attraction is the {{convert|700|m|ft|adj=mid|-high|sp=us}} mountain, Mount Macolod (Mount Maculot).

The patron of Cuenca is Saint Isidore the Laborer, the patron of farmers. A celebratory feast is held annually every May 15.

Geography
